Confirmed international acts for Phat 11 so far :

ANDY C (UK)

Last year saw Andy C reign supreme once more as he was crowned Best DJ by Drum & bass Arena for the 6th successive year; a record for the drum and bass industry. He was the highest drum and bass representative at DJs top 100 DJs Poll at number 28, and started the year getting the ultimate accolade from the bible of dance music Mixmag listing him in the top 10 of their Club lands Ultimate Power List. While running his label, signing new talents, producing and traveling across the globe to play some of the biggest clubs, Andy C is a busy man, and one of dance musics best ambassadors.

dBRIDGE (UK) b2b CONSEQUENCE

A veteran producer and one of the most experienced artists in drum & bass, Darren White aka dBridge is taking his music to new heights with Exit Records. Over the course of a long and distinguished career, he has been at the heart of some the most exciting collaborative partnerships drum & bass has ever seen. In 2009, he’s forged a strong bond with Instra:mental through collaborative productions plus the Autonomic podcasts and together they’ve earned residencies at Fabric and Rinse FM. His DJ sets are renowned for showcasing the freshest tracks, impeccably crafted with the perfect balance of depth and raw energy

  www.myspace.com/exitrecords

Consequence : This extremely talented young producer has been turning the heads of some of the drum & bass scene’s most respected DJ's and label owners throughout 2009. With support from the likes of Goldie, Doc Scott, Loxy, dBridge & Instra:mental helping to build anticpation, his debut LP 'Live for Never' has recently been released on Exit Records. He has risen to the challenge of creating a truly unique album for Exit - rich in texture, atmosphere and bass weight - in a style all of his own.  A core member of the Autonomic family, he's already collaborated with ASC, dBridge and Instra:mental as well as providing exclusive material for their upcoming Fabriclive 50 CD

BREAKAGE ( UK

Breakage aka James Boyle is never been one to be pigeonholed. Moving effortlessly through styles from drum and bass to dubstep, Breakage has proved himself to be one of the most versatile operators in either scene to date. A prodigious talent, he already has a number of classic releases under his belt but continues to develop his sound. Combining rich tones and a sense of spaciousness in the mix, Breakage’s music is both subtle yet devastatingly effective.  James signed with Shy FX’s mighty Digital Soundboy imprint in 2007, and soon turned heads with the haunting half- time beats of ‘Clarendon b/w Shroud.’ It came as no surprise that he would make waves in the dubstep community with his next release, ‘Callahan b/w Untitled,’ after having remixed one of the scene’s biggest tracks to date, Benga & Coki’s ‘Night,’ alongside Shy FX as Digital Soundboy. 2009 has seen Breakage cemented himself as ‘one to watch’ across the British dance music press and taste-making elite. Following on from the superb ‘Together’ earlier this year, Breakage released ‘Run Em Out’ feat. Roots Manuva b/w ‘Higher’ this October and continues his good form with the thuggish reworked ‘Hard’ feat. Newham Generals and David Rodigan released Dec 7th. Alongside his orginal recordings James has also recently turned in remixes for the likes of Sidney Sampson, David Guetta and the legendary Aswad. With his sophomore LP ‘Foundation’ due for release in Feb 2010 on Digital Soundboy, it’s sure to be another busy year ahead for Breakage. Features on the record come courtesy of Skream, Burial, Roots Manuva, David Rodigan, Newham Generals, Kemo and more. Expect bass heavy quality music with a broad appeal.  To quote a certain Mr. Roots Manuva...
“Breakage is a man with an ear for deep, deep, sub-sonic frequencies. He goes in low. I thinking he’s talking to sea-life. He’s talking to the squid”.

LOEFAH DMZ (UK)

Rather than being birthed like a normal child, Loefah instead punched his way out of his mother's womb. Shortly thereafter he grew a beard. Before email was invented Loefah would attach messages to kittens and roundhouse kick them. The chief export of Loefah is pain. Loefah has yet to get a Jeopardy question wrong. Jesus has missed two.
The original theme song to the Transformers was actually "Loefah--more than meets the eye, Loefah--robot in disguise," and starred Loefah as a Texas Ranger who defended the earth from drug-dealing Decepticons and could turn into a pick-up. This was far too awesome for a single show, however, so it was divided.
If you can see Loefah, he can see you. If you can't see Loefah you may be only seconds away from death.
When Loefah sends in his taxes, he sends blank forms and includes only a picture of himself, crouched and ready to attack. Loefah has not had to pay taxes ever.
Loefah built a time machine and went back in time to stop the JFK assassination. As Oswald shot, Loefah met all three bullets with his cap, deflecting them. JFK's head exploded out of sheer amazement.
Loefah doesn't read books. He stares them down until he gets the information he wants

BREAK (UK)

Acquiring a love for the breakbeat through jazz and funk records, Break took to the drums at a young age, learning piano along the way and taking to the turntables at the age of fourteen.A talented musician with a wide range of influences, Break looks to push the barriers in whatever he’s doing. Crisp breaks, heavy bass and strong melody are stable marks of his productions making him a firm favourite with a variety of the scenes top DJs. Break hooked up with the DNAudio crew back in 2001 after meeting Squire through mutual friends. Since then he has played an important role in the label’s expansion, working closely with Silent Witness in developing a fresh & devastating new sound. DJ A-Sides was quick to sign Break’s debut, Cocktail for the ‘East Side Jamz 2’ LP and wasted no time releasing his first solo twelve, ‘Sticky Situation’, the ‘Breakout EP’ and a string of other singles. His partnership with Silent Witness lead to releases on No U Turn and since then Break hasn’t looked back. As one of the most prolific producers in the scene, long hours in the studio have lead to outings on East Side, Fuze, Commercial Suicide, Quarantine, Critical, Invaderz, Explicit, Subtitles, Metalheadz, Levitated, Shadow Law and DNAudio; all building on Break’s reputation as one of the drum & bass’ hottest new talents. As well as now working closely with Fierce and with singer Kyo in the studio, Break's busy DJ schedule sees him play across the UK and Europe several times a month, with every set being crammed full of killer fresh dubs blended seamlessly with underground classics

BLACK SUN EMPIRE (NL)

Black Sun Empire represent the finest in dark and techy dancefloor drum & bass. Since bursting onto the scene back in 2000, they’ve continued to develop their own unique style and sound, releasing numerous singles as well as three full-length LPs and establishing themselves as leaders in the field. With their awesome DJ skills and inspirational productions, Black Sun Empire have reached far beyond their native Holland. They’ve toured the world over, playing dates in the USA, UK, Russia, Korea, Australia and New Zealand to name but a few, and continue to build on their growing reputation as some of the most exciting and consistent performers around. Black Sun Empire have been setting the pace again in 2009, with collaborations alongside the likes of Eye-D and N.Phect, remixes for Gridlok and Cause 4 Concern plus the launch of their new label Shadows of the Empire.  They're currently working on a new LP featuring drum & bass and dubstep productions and have more in store for 2010 from the likes of Mindscape, Telemetrik & Bulletproof across their labels

EXCISION (Canada)

Taking influence from DnB, Metal, and Hip Hop, Excision is an artist who must be heard to fully believe. Combining the morphing bass lines of Drum and Bass, the aggressive energy of Metal, and the laid back vibes of hip hop, Excision's style is incomparable. At only 22, this young Canadian's passion for music has already driven him to become one of the biggest Dubstep acts of North America . Anyone who has heard a set by this bad boy has walked away feeling energized and refreshed. If your lucky enough to catch a live set, expect an assault of bass heavy tracks, mixed quickly and seamlessly. Upon the selling out and repressing of his first release, "No Escape" on his own label Rottun Recordings, it became apparent that there was a large demand for the dark side of Dubstep. This was proven to be true when Excision was asked by Electronic Music Superstars Pendulum to remix their upcoming single "Showdown." Look out for collaborations with Bassnectar, Pendulum, Datsik, Reso, Skism and many others ranging from DnB heavy weight SPL, to Dubstep womp master DZ.

 www.myspace.com/excision

DATSIK (Canada)

Only in the Dubstep scene a short time, 21 year old Datsik (Troy B.) has wasted no time by making his presence be known internationally, introducing his own unique style of industrial sounding futuristic beats and heavy dance floor stomping rhythms. His latest successes on the Beatports “Top Download” charts are a testament that his music is being recognized by listeners all over the world, with multiple releases hitting number 1 on Beatport and Chemical-Records for extended periods of time. It is very well possible that he has been the first dubstep artist to ever hold 5 out of the top 10 best selling tunes at once on Beatport. He has also earned the attention of some of the most notable and influential acts in the scene to date such as Bassnectar, Skream, Rusko, & DJ Craze, to name a few. With the Rottun Recordings label behind him, he has been hard at work, working on many tunes, collaborations, and remixes for some of the biggest names in the world. In a genre with increasing popularity, he continues to devote his time and energy into pioneering a distinct sound that will transform it to the next level, and set him above the rest. He has demonstrated his skills time and time again to packed audiences, on each occasion leaving them in a state of disbelief.

CAMO & KROOKED (Austria)

When “one of the biggest talents in Drum’n’Bass” (according to Grooverider), Vienna based Reinhard Rietsch aka CAMO and up- and coming producer Markus Wagner aka KROOKED, who both started producing in 2002, teamed up in 2007 nobody could have guessed what impact their collaboration will have on the scene!
Since then they have written and produced some of the hottest and devastating dancefloor anthems Drum’n’Bass has heard for a long time! Be it the more soulful sound of the massive “Turn Up The Music” or the raw power of smashers like their remix of “John B – Numbers”, they always hit the right buttons!
With this amazing musical talent and ambition they quickly managed to get their tunes released on the biggest Labels within the scene and on heavy rotation on Drum’n’Bass’ homebase Radio 1!

EVOL INTENT (USA)

The turn of the century has seen many incredible innovations in the production and development of drum n’ bass. Over the past five years the genre has been broken, recast, and mutated into perhaps the most aggressive and visceral manifestation of music today. The Atlanta-based artists Evol Intent are among the greatest purveyors of this incendiary, modern jungle sound. Operating as a three piece power troop, Knick, Gigantor and the Enemy have produced some of the most ephemeral and progressive drum n’ bass to date. The outfit’s uncompromising and inimitable drum tirades left an indelible mark on the U.S. scene and the globe at large. Birthed out of hardcore-punk culture, the trio developed a unique method for wrecking soundsystems. The Evol Intent approach is unmistakable: combine dynamic drum mechanics, razor sharp edits, sawtooth synths and an element of discord resonant of their punk youth. In a very short period of time the group has amassed a substantial discography while recording for their own Evol Intent label as well as numerous prestigious imprints such as Renegade Hardware, Outbreak, and Human.

DIGITAL (UK)

Digital aka Steve Carr is the primary musical moniker this Ipswich based producer is known exclusively for his "old skool beatz" and "dubby B-lines" but a short conversation and a little investigative listening indicate this is one producer likely to pull a few seriously weighty tricks out of the bag. Digital has been involved in music all of his life, particularly reggae. Main influences being from his father having run a sound system for about thirty years. His musical tag & skills come from his knack at tampering with electronic equipment from the early age of fourteen. From about 1989 to 1991 Digital was busy "running around playing reggae" with sound systems, till the fateful period when "all this rave business crept in.....

CONCORD DAWN with CERN & MC TWINCAM

Concord Dawn began life as Evan Short & Matt Harvey, bursting onto the New Zealand music scene back in mid 1999 with their unique high octane Drum and Bass sound. They were the darlings of the local bNet / Student Radio stations up and down New Zealand, getting hefty prime-time airplay, featuring at the top of the weekly Top Tens and breaking chart records across the bNet. After a year or so of underground success they were courted by local electronic music label Kog Transmissions and released their first album Concord Dawn in July 2000.

After touring the album throughout New Zealand they released their second album Disturbance in April 2001 and received "Best Electronic Album" and "Best Independent Release" at the 2001 bNet Music Awards. Both Concord Dawn and Disturbance sold far better than expected and the boys received strong reviews in all forms of media not only for their releases but also for their energetic live performances. For the next year they went into hiatus to refine the Concord Dawn sound further with Evan heading to London for 5
months to immerse himself in the culture of the Drum and Bass homeland. Upon his return to New Zealand work was started on their 3rd album Uprising with tracks like 'Morning Light' and 'Don't Tell Me' finding international acclaim well before the album's release. Uprising was released in New Zealand in September 2003 and reached gold sales status in an amazing 3 months.

With Concord Dawn now well established internationally and their catalogue now being distributed worldwide Evan and Matt embarked on a seemingly never ending world tour, travelling all over the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia and Australia. At the 2003 bNet music awards "Morning Light" won "Best Song" and "Most Radio Play" and at the 2004 bNet music awards Uprising received "Best Album" and "Best Electronic Release". Concord Dawn were also nominated for "Best Electronic Act" at the 2004 New Zealand music awards but narrowly missed out to Salmonella Dub.

Work on their long awaited 4th album was completed in early 2005 and was titled Chaos By Design to express the
album's musically eclectic nature. The album and singles won critical acclaim worldwide with various tracks off the albums being signed to some of the biggest and most respected Drum and Bass labels worldwide such as Metalheadz, Ram Records and Hospital Recordings. Chaos By Design also won 'Best Electronic Album' at the 2006 New Zealand Music Awards.

Another full world tour was embarked on shortly after the release with Matt relocating to Vienna, in the heart of Europe and Evan covering New Zealand, Australia, Asia and the Americas from home base in New Zealand.

2008 saw Evan focus on his studio commitments while Matt continues with Concord Dawn, having just completed a 15 date nationwide tour, whose ticket price included a free 'Twilight' Mix CD with new tunes from both Concord Dawn and Uprising Records artists.
