Import's first experience of mixing was forced by his friends, who were tired of being dominated on the PlayStation.. thru "Nu School Cooking" at Curve bar he linked up with like-minded DJs Slips, Hooks and Ewok who formed  "The Facecutters". ..in 2001, Facecutters began a new venture that ended up becoming one of NZ's longest running drum'n'bass club residencies, Indigo bar's (Now known as San Francisco Bathhouse) ' 'Horror Stories'.At this point, Import's main focus was on promotion, but he also started to dabble in production. As it became more and more clear that this was the path that he wanted to take, Import decided to make the move to the capital of NZ drum'n'bass - Christchurch.

 This year has seen Import stepping things up, taking first place in the 'Jansen Rumble In The Jungle', plus third in the South Island multi-genre DJ competition 'Decknology'.
